Are your boots made for walking?
I’ve always known that everyone involved with The Food Chain, whether as a volunteer, staff member, supporter or friend, is always willing to go that extra mile to support our work with people living with HIV in London.
The question is, might you go that extra 30 miles in our 30th anniversary year?
Our friends at Advocate Events, who helped us conquer the National 3 Peaks Challenge last year are organising a 30 for 30 sponsored walk for us this year.
Starting at Henley on Thames we will walk along the Thames Towpath all the way in to central London. What a lovely route, and a great way to mark the work we have done in the capital over the past 3 decades.
If the full 30 miles seems a bit of a stretch, you can do part of the walk or you can join a relay team to cover the distance in 3 ten-mile chunks, or however you want to break it up. Any distance you fancy will be much appreciated.
We would love as many people as possible to join the walk, so if you can find a distance that works for you, get those walking shoes cleaned and polished and ready for action.
The date of the event is Saturday 15th September 2018

We are asking people to commit to a target of £200 per person in sponsorship money. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get 150 people on that towpath, raising £30,000 for our 30th anniversary year? That amount would mean we could provide our full range of services - grocery deliveries, Eating Together lunches and Eating Positively nutrition and cookery classes for 45 people living with HIV in London. Well worth the shoe leather!
We will make sure there are refreshments along the way, and a well-earned drink at the end. There is bound to be 30th anniversary cake too.
Talking of cake….do get along to the St Paul’s, Covent Garden May Fayre this Sunday if you can. There will be cake for every palate and every dietary requirement on our stall there! Hope it’s a sunny day.
