Celebrating our Volunteers
On Thursday 7th September, we held our Food Chain Volunteers Party. The annual celebration of all things volunteering is a dedicated opportunity for The Food Chain's staff and trustees to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for all of the hard work they do - all year, every year.
Highlighted as part of the celebrations were some pretty impressive volunteering statistics:
Over the last 12 months, Food Chain volunteers have spent 722 hours at fundraising events, 854 hours providing tailored dietetic support, 975 hours hosting our guests at our Eating Together service ... and over 2,923 hours in the kitchen!
All of this culminated in serving 1,531 hot, home-cooked, nutritious meals to 132 Service Users over the year.
In the words of one of our Service Users, "can't find words to thank you enough".
However, we hope that the party went some way to showing our appreciation. It was a great fun-filled evening, due in no small part to our wonderful emcees Topsie Redfern and Marsha Mallow.
The Food Chain’s Chief Executine, Siobhán Lanigan, had some words of thanks for the volunteers – you can read her full speech here.
Thank you to everyone who attended - we are already looking forward to next year's!
