Green Apple Dinner 2012

The grandest of our World AIDS Day events, The Green Apple Dinner, is taking place on Friday 30 November, and here are the final details of the evening.

There are still a limited  number of tickets available online, and for those of you who cannot attend you are invited to bid on the auction prizes to stand a chance of winning some once in a lifetime experiences.

Auction Items

If you cannot attend but would like to bid in advance of the event on any of these items please email Tina.Sloane@foodchain.org.uk with your top bid
(and the item on which you are bidding). All email bids must
be received by Thursday 29 November.

Lot 1:Make the news

Behind-the-scenes tour for four people of the ITV Newsroom: see how the programme is put together, meet some of the presenters and reporters, and get to see inside the studio in the final few minutes before transmission. You’ll watch the programme go out live from the control room “gallery”, and even sit in on the editorial debrief afterwards. The tour lasts about 90 minutes at ITN HQ at 200 Gray’s Inn Rd in central London.

Lot 2: Personal Portrait

Turn yourself, a loved one or celebrity into your own artpiece. Provide Arthur Leslie Studios with a photo and this will be transformed into your own personal portrait. Using the Studios signature muted palette, this is a piece of art any house would be proud of.

Lot 3: Dine with Allegra

Enjoy a meal out in the company of Allegra McEvedy MBE, Food Chain patron and chef, broadcaster and writer. Allegra will choose one of her favourite London restaurants, selected to match your tastes. You will dine with her and hear about her wonderful career in the world of professional cookery.

Lot 4: Soar over London

Experience breathtaking panoramic views of the city from a private passenger plane. Treat two of your friends to join you as you take off from Biggin Hill, meander down the Thames, orbit over Westminster and soar around the Tower of London and Greenwich, as you savour a highly coveted means of travel across the capital.

Lot 5: Party in a grand design

Featuring on the Channel 4 programme “Grand Designs” this 150-year-old water tower in Kennington is Grade II listed and has been converted and extended into a four bedroom

luxury home. Leigh Osborne and Graham Voce, who live in the property and managed the nine-floor conversion, invite you and five friends to a cocktail party. As well as a tour of their home, you will spend an evening with them in their spectacular viewing room offering 360-degree views across London.

Lot 6: Week's stay in Boutique Hotel on Island of Symi

Spend a week exploring the picturesque Greek island of Symi. You and a guest will stay in the beautiful Symi Suite, overlooking the island’s breathtaking harbour. You will be treated to a champagne breakfasts and afternoon 'apertivos' on the terrace. Listed as one of the hottest places to stay in 2012 by Condé Nast Traveller, the only thing better than where you will be staying is the beauty of the island itself. Flights not included.

Lot 7: Join Jay Rayner at a restaurant critique

Bid to be Jay Rayner’s dining companion on a restaurant review for The Observer.

Experience the best food and service as the venue seeks to impress Jay and you, his guest! Jay will choose the perfect wine to accompany your meal. The prize is for one guest, but if you would like to bring a friend the second person's meal must be paid for.

Lot 8: Private dining experience for 20!

Why share a restaurant when you can have a private dining room for up to 20 guests? Start the New Year in style by experiencing the highlights of Italian food and wine at the

award-winning Boca Di Lupo. Honest, carefully sourced Italian cuisine specialises in the obscure and the delicious, with dishes uncomplicated but full of generosity and joy.

Enjoy dinner between Sunday and Wednesday or lunch between Sunday and Thursday, available from January 2013.

The evening

Guests will be welcomed into the Reading Room at The Law Society, The Law Society's Hall, 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL from 18:30. You will be entertained by Jharda, the singing harpist, who will perform well known songs with a twist.

During the drinks reception there will be a chance to bid in a silent auction of six stunning London photographs taken by Nicholas Godden. Or choose an item from his catalogue. All pieces sold on the evening will never be reproduced in the same size and style again, so you will be bidding or buying a one of a kind piece.

As you sip on champagne there will also be a caricature artist to capture the evening, for which you can pay whatever you think it is worth!

At 19:30 you will be taken upstairs to the stunning Common Room, for a fabulous four course dinner. This year we are delighted to announce that our after dinner speaker is Jay Rayner, Observer Food Writer and Restaurant Critic.

As well as the chance to buy tombola tickets with a range of food related prizes throughout the evening including tea at the House of Lords, a chance for you and five friends to learn the art of cake decoration with a Konditor and Cook chef and a top prize of a Dwell voucher for £500.

Following a fabulous array of auction prizes, we will retire to the bar for a night cap or two as members of the London Gay Symphonic Winds entertain with their unique brand of pop songs performed in a (semi) classical style.

Thank you to Core Recruitment for generously sponsoring the event for the second year running.
