Our services over the 2016 festive season
Our kitchen was in full swing over the Christmas period. Christmas can be a difficult time of year for some people, and with half of our service users living on their own, we wanted to ensure they had a place to come to enjoy a healthy meal in a friendly, supportive and relaxed environment.
We didn't shut our doors on Christmas Eve, we served another lovely meal on the 28th December, and we even cooked meals on New Years' Eve! Huge credit is due to our kind-hearted volunteers who showed their dedication by opening the doors to the kitchen and giving a warm welcome with nutritious food to our service users over the holiday season.
We had a delicious roast dinner with all the trimmings and played fun party games at our Eating Together service on the 28th December, while on New Years' Eve we enjoyed food chosen from a fancy à la carte menu. Sirloin steak, grilled seabass and halloumi & red cabbage steaks were cooked to order, with a delectable eton mess served for dessert.
Our tradition of serving Christmas meals to those who most need our support is a tradition tracing back to our earliest days as a charity. We're very much looking forward to continuing this tradition and to seeing everyone here again next Christmas!
