Volunteer Star - February!
The February Volunteer Star award goes to Michael Tedone - a Volunteer Dietetic Support Worker. Micheal is currently taking part in a university programme for American students in London entitled 'Global Citizenship in Practice' which combines academic input alongside active community volunteering. He is studying for a Dietetic/Nutrition degree in America so was keen to find some relevant volunteering experience as part of the programme.
Michael has been volunteering with us since January and received nominations for being an all round star! He is so friendly and polite and works really hard to ensure our service users are well taken care of. He picked the role up really quickly and really goes the extra mile. A couple of weeks ago we had a really back log of calls that needed to be made to service users and Michael came in an extra day, after his lectures to help out.
This is what Michael has to say about volunteering at The Food Chain:
'I've really enjoyed volunteering at The Food Chain in the short time I've been here. I'm glad that I'm able to volunteer at a place that makes a positive difference in the London community. The people I've ordered groceries for have always been very thankful, and that's why I've enjoyed volunteering here so much. Everyone in the office has been very friendly and helpful with any questions I've had. I'm looking forward to the rest of my time here.'
