make a gift in your will

Legacies are an important source of income to The Food Chain. Making a will is vital for all of us and talking to a solicitor about making a legacy to The Food Chain means that your generosity can continue after your death. Legacies take various forms:

Residuary bequest
A gift of the remainder of the estate after all other bequests have been made and debts are cleared.

Pecuniary bequest
This is a gift of a fixed sum of money described in your Will. The value of this will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases and you may need to keep updating it as your circumstances change.

Specific bequest
This is an item left as a gift in your Will is known as a specific bequest ,often a piece of jewellery or an object of particular value.

Contingent bequest
This is a gift in your Will that depends upon an event which may or may not happen. An example is a bequest to a charity which applies only if other beneficiaries named in the Will die before the person who made the Will.

A solicitor will be happy to advise on all of these and help you ensure that The Food Chain can continue our work as long we are needed.
