Christmas at The Food Chain

In the last few days The Food Chain has begun to get into the festive spirit in earnest.

On Tuesday 13 December, The Food Chain held its much loved carol concert at St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden which included Sheila Hancock's fantastic reading from 'A Christmas Carol' and Peter Roscrow's, Food Chain Chair, sometimes poorly spelt (!) A to Z of acknowledgements, which can be downloaded here .

As we approach our half a millionth meal delivery on Christmas Day Katie Smith, Programme Development Manager, reflected on a year of change at The Food Chain; you can read her speech here

As per tradition special Christmas hampers were sent to service users this week - including treats for the festive season.

On Sunday we celebrated a successful pilot of Eating Together, communal eating, with a Christmas party. This autumn we worked with Age UK Camden to bring isolated older men living with HIV together to share a meal and learn more about living well with HIV. The Christmas meal took place on Sunday, attended by 44 service users and volunteers. It was a great atmosphere with delicious food and everyone received a gift as well as a Christmas Hamper. Further sessions will be arranged in the New Year thanks to funding from City Bridge Trust.

On Christmas Day we will as usual be delivering a Sunday meal delivery; many thanks to all the volunteers who are giving up time on Christmas Day to support our service users in this way.
