Intern opportunities at The Food Chain
Market Research Intern:
Working with the Food Chain and our partner Link Market Research you will help to promote and help analyse our in – depth volunteer survey.
We are looking for someone at least three days a week which could include some Sundays in the first month.
The intern responsibilities will include:
1. Promoting the survey and completion of the survey amongst our volunteers and encouraging them to complete the questionnaire.
2. Help fulfil the posting of the surveys to those with no-email address and encourage returns.
3. Some phone and face-to-face surveys with those volunteers that are hard to reach
4. Work with Link Market Research to code and analyse the results.
5. Work with the Food Chain and Link Market research on the final presentation of the results and recommendations for our management committee to consider.

Communications Intern:
Working with the Chief Executive of The Food Chain you will take on all aspects of internal and external communications – including the development of a communications strategy for the organisations. This is an idea opportunity for someone looking for a career in public relations and communications to get experience of all aspects of communications work within a small charity.
We are looking for someone for between three and five days a week
The intern responsibilities will include:
1. Developing the internal and external communications plans for the organisation..
2. Developing our written, email and web communications.
3. Developing our website.
4. Using the media to raise our profile and recruit volunteers
5. Helping us make the most of our 18th anniversary year.
6. Developing our profile within the African community.
7. Reporting to the communications sub-committee and the management committee.

Fundraising interns:
The Food Chain is looking for a number of an energetic graduates or returners-to-work to help us develop our fundraising. In particular we would like people who can help us develop in one or more of the following areas:
Individual Donor giving
Corporate fundraising
Trust Fundraising
Major donor giving
Community Fundraising
Events and sponsorship
Developing our fundraising base within the African Community.
This will include a number of high profile new projects working with our donors and the restaurant community in London.
This is an exciting time for The Food Chain, and a great time to build experience through working on practical projects under the guidance of the Chief Executive.
We are looking for a number of interns who could assist us in these activities between 2 and 5 days a week for 3 months or longer.

In all the roles we are for individuals:
1. With experience or wishing to develop experience in the relevant area, as a graduate or through work experience.
2. Someone wishing to gain experience top pursue a career or return to work in the field of communications or public relations.
3. Reliable and confident in dealing with people.
4. Experience of working with Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
5. Accurate literacy and numeracy skills and either 3 good a-levels or equivalent qualification with good English and Maths at GCSE.
6. Imaginative and energetic.
7. Ability to work to priorities and manage your own workload.
8. Flexibility and capable of working closely with a small team.
9. Self motivation, energy and enthusiasm, along with a commitment to the aims of the charity
