The Volunteer Party 2008 – St Valentine’s Day Massacre - now with photos
Following the success of last year’s summer BBQ, 16th February 2008 marked The Food Chain’s spring volunteer social.

Helen Forde - The hostess with the mostest
The theme – as you may have guessed from the date was St Valentine’s Day – with a twist. The Gate in Clerkenwell was a perfect venue with an excellent selection of drinks, and beautifully decorated with a love-heart theme.

Tapas –style food provided by the venue was suited to all tastes and provided throughout the evening. The DJ played a variety of 80’s and modern pop along with some camp classics, ensuring the dancefloor was packed at all times.

Over 100 volunteers attended, the majority fittingly dressed as gansters, molls and flapper girls complete with feather boas, spats and braces and tommy guns.
Red Snapper generously provided luxury aprons for the raffle, and other prizes included chocolates and champagne, and a bottle of apple vodka was won by ex-trustee Mark Dunne, who kindly shared it with everyone in the vicinity.
Thanks to generous ticket and raffle ticket sales the whole evening was a great success, our thanks go out to the Sunday Service Committee for all their hard work and all involved for such a wonderful evening, and we look forward to presenting you with the next Volunteer Social!
