Challenge Events: Getting Started
If our featured events don’t quite get your heart racing, or if there are limited places available, don’t worry. There are hundreds of events in the UK and abroad that offer own-entry places, which means if you discover a challenge elsewhere you like the look of, chances are you can still take part in support of The Food Chain!
Sponsored event participants generate vital funds for The Food Chain year after year. In the past, fundraisers have overcome enormous challenges to support our work, including cycling to Thailand, completing a 100km ultra-marathon and trekking across the Arctic Circle. You might now think your upcoming 5k run or 10k cycle sound easier than you thought, but remember what matters to us is your personal effort and your support.
Setting up your online sponsorship page
Online fundraising makes it incredibly simple, as a donor, to make a contribution in support of a challenge. Donations made on Justgiving and Virgin Money Giving go straight to The Food Chain, as does gift aid on eligible donations.
It’s also straightforward for fundraisers to set up their own page. Don’t worry if you do get stuck though, because we’re on hand to offer help and advice.
Request fundraising materials
Please get in touch and tell us what materials you would like. We have plenty of leaflets, posters, collection tins and red ribbons to aid offline efforts, and you can also request a Food Chain t-shirt or running vest. Don't forget to download our fundraising pack too.
We encourage you to share your training and fundraising efforts for us on your social media channels. It’s a quick and easy way of keeping your followers and friends updated. We’re big fans of a Food Chain selfie, so don’t be shy to take a snap or two before and after your event!
As well as Twitter and Facebook, The Food Chain is now on Instagram. We're also active on LinkedIn.
Popular at the moment
Join a growing number of Food Chain adventurers who are signing up to marathons all over the UK! We have runners participating in the Brighton and Paris marathons this spring.
Tough Mudder events are gaining in popularity all the time. It is exactly how it sounds; a mud-filled obstacle course designed to test even the most seasoned of athletes. We're hoping Food Chain places will be available for Tough Mudder events at the end of the year.
