Volunteering Opportunities 2017
Volunteering Opportunities Autumn/Winter 2017
As always, we’ve got lots of events coming up over the next few months. If you’re an existing Food Chain volunteer and you'd like to get involved, email Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org
UK AIDS Memorial Quilt on display at the Houses of Parliament
Monday 27th November to Saturday 2nd December
Last winter, the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt was displayed to the public for the first time in around 20 years. Now, the partnership of HIV charities managing the quilt project have secured a week-long display of the quilt in the impressive setting of Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament.
We need volunteers to steward the quilt panels throughout the week - you can spend as much or as little time there as you like. We will be putting together a rota for each day Monday - Saturday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. The volunteers will be there to welcome visitors and explain a little about the quilt, the project and promote HIV awareness. All volunteers will receive a full briefing so don't worry if your knowledge is a bit limited.
Save the Date! World AIDS Day
Friday 1st December
One of the biggest dates in our calendar, World AIDS Day this year falls on a Friday which means we'll be heading out to Soho en masse, painting the town green! We need lots of lovely volunteers to help us fundraise around the bars and venues, selling red ribbons and spreading the word about The Food Chain and the importance of HIV Awareness. To sign up email Anna on email@example.com
Christmas Concerts with the Constanza Chorus
Saturday 9th December & Monday 11th December
Saturday 9th: 7.30pm at St Marylebone Parish Church, Marylebone Road, NW1 5LT
Monday 11th: 6pm at Western Courtyard, Devonshire Square, EC2M 4YE
What: Lead by their dynamic musical director, Joanna Tomlinson, the Constanza Chorus will kindly be fundraising for The Food Chain at their Christmas Concerts. Both events will be lovely festive occasions and a chance to raise the profile of The Food Chain in the local community.
We need: A few volunteers at each event to shake those collection tins!
How to sign up: Email Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org
We sometimes need drivers to help us with food collections and ad-hoc pickups. At the moment, we collect food donations on a weekly and monthly basis from supermarkets local to our kitchen, and we also occasionally receive donations from third parties (food products, wine glasses, small furniture etc) that require a car to be collected. We have a couple of lovely volunteers who currently do this for us but it would be great to have a list of people who we could ask as and when required. Pickups generally need to happen during working hours, so if you have a car and would generally be able to help out at these times, please contact Peter on email@example.com
If you're an existing volunteer and would like to help out as a Kitchen Assistant or Host on Christmas Day, please speak to Anna or Peter next time you're in the kitchen, or email Judith your rota coordinator.
