Volunteering Opportunities 2018
Volunteering Opportunities 2018
As always, we’ve got lots of events coming up over the next few months. If you’re an existing Food Chain volunteer and you'd like to get involved, email Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org
Retro Pop Quiz @ The Food Chain
Thursday 22nd March
What: Join us for our final fundraising event in the Acorn House kitchen and make this a quiz night to remember. Because 2018 is The Food Chain's 30th year, quiz master and Food Chain alumni Nigel Burch will be testing your knowledge of the last 30 (or so) years of pop music.
We need: The usual team of kitchen volunteers to whip up those vol-au-vents and pour the plonk! Shift time will be around 5pm to 10.30/11pm. Get in touch with Anna on email@example.com if you'd like to help out.
Spring Office Picnic @ The Food Chain
Friday 20th April
What: A team of volunteers from Viacom are coming to our kitchen for their "Viacommunity" corporate volunteering day. They'll be preparing a buffet lunch, which we will be offering as a lunchtime option to the general public in return for a donation to The Food Chain.
We need: 4 Kitchen Assistants (9am – 3.30pm) to support the corporate volunteers in the kitchen, and 2 Hosts (10am – 3.30pm) to set up the room and welcome in members of the public. Get in touch with Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to help out.
SAVE THE DATE!
Sunday 13th May 2018
St Paul's Church, Covent Garden
What: Once again The Food Chain is selling yummy cakes and savoury snacks at the Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival. The May Fayre starts with a colourful procession at 11 am and from 12noon there will be lots of kitsch activities including a maypole dance, Punch and Judy and Puppet Shows, folk music and dancing till 5.30pm.
We need: As many bakers as we can find! Savoury, sweet or an interesting mix of both, we need lots of tasty treats to sell on our stall. You can drop them off on the day at the church, or on the Friday/Saturday before at the kitchen. If you’d like to bake, email Anna on email@example.com. We'd love to hear from you.
Calling all pint-pullers and festival-lovers! As a festivals bar volunteer, you’d be working set shifts behind the bar at one of the UK's summer festivals. Organised by the Workers Beer Company, for every hour volunteers work pouring and serving drinks, money is donated to The Food Chain. When you're not on shift, you're free to enjoy the festival, and your transport and food (2 meals and 2 drinks per day) are provided. Have a look at the options below and if you're interested in hearing more, let me know! Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and I need to know by Monday 19th March 2018.

SOHO FUNDRAISING 2018
What: Our good friends and long-time supporters at Admiral Duncan and Halfway to Heaven are already filling up their diaries with some fantastic fundraising events for us! These events are so important to keep up The Food Chain’s profile in the Soho LGBT+ community, as well as raising vital donations to enable us to keep feeding the fight against HIV. And let’s be honest, they are a lot of fun!
We need: 2 or 3 volunteers to help us fundraise by donning a chic Food Chain T shirt and shaking those buckets! If you can’t do a whole shift don’t worry, even an hour or two will be of great help. Email Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up!
