Eating Together (group meals)

Eating Together is the name of our communal lunchtime meal session where service users enjoy a hot lunch and some company every Wednesday and Saturday at our Kings Cross kitchen.

Please take a look at the volunteer role descriptions below for how you can volunteer at these services.

Eating Together Volunteer Roles

Eating Together Lead Cook

As a Lead Cook at Eating Together sessions you will lead a team of Kitchen Assistants to prepare and cook a nutritious lunch and pudding which is served to our Service Users. You’ll be confident leading a team and keeping your cool in the kitchen.

We hope for a commitment of one Wednesday or Saturday a month (or both!).

Eating Together Kitchen Assistant

Be part of the team of Kitchen Assistants who prepare and cook a nutritious lunch for our Service Users on a Wednesday (we also run the service on a Saturday but are not currently recruiting for that role). You don’t need to be a Master Chef but you do need to be able to follow a recipe. Eating Together is communal eating sessions for our more isolated Service Users. It gives them a chance to come to together, socialise and eat a nutritious and delicious meal.

We hope for a commitment of one shift a month.

Eating Together Host

Eating Together Hosts support the Lead Host to make sure that every Eating Together session runs smoothly and that everyone has fun. You will meet and greet Service Users, introduce people to each other, prepare hot drinks and make sure that no one looks lonely!

We hope for a commitment of one shift a month on either a Wednesday or a Saturday (or both!)

Eating Together Nutrition Assistant (Saturdays only)

Use your nutritional expertise at our Saturday Eating Together session! You'll deliver a talk on a particular topic and lead a discussion around it. You must be a qualified Dietician or Nutritionist to volunteer in this role. This role is Saturdays only.
