Eating Together and Eating Positively

Eating Positively is our four part series of interactive cooking and nutrition classes specifically designed with our service users in mind. Classes take place every Monday at our Kings Cross kitchen.

Eating Together is the name of our communal lunchtime meal session where service users enjoy a hot lunch and some company every Wednesday and Saturday at our Kings Cross kitchen.

Please take a look at the volunteer role descriptions below for how you can volunteer at these services.

Eating Positively Service Support Volunteer (not currently recruiting)

Help out in the office on a Monday morning by confirming bookings over the phone and collating all the recipes and materials for the class. We are not currently recruiting for this role.

Eating Positively Lead Cook / Cooking Teacher (Mondays)

Teach a cookery class to up to twelve people.

You'll demonstrate how to make a particular dish, breaking down the recipe into easy to follow steps. You'll have small team of kitchen assistants to support you by assisting with preparation and supporting service users during the class. If you're a confident cook and public speaker, this could be the role for you!

Classes take place every Monday afternoon and we hope for a commitment of one shift a month.

Eating Positively Kitchen Assistant – Mondays

You'll support the Eating Positively Cooking Teacher with our interactive cooking and nutrition classes. This will involve setting up work stations and supporting our Service Users who are participating in the class. 

Eating Positively classes take place every Monday afternoon at our King's Cross kitchen and we hope for a commitment of one shift a month.

Eating Together Lead Cook - Wednesday and/or Saturday

As a Lead Cook at Eating Together sessions you will lead a team of Kitchen Assistants to prepare and cook a nutritious lunch and pudding which is served to our service users. You’ll be confident leading a team and keeping your cool in the kitchen.

We hope for a commitment of one Wednesday or Saturday a month (or both!).

Eating Together Kitchen Assistant - Wednesday (not currently recruiting for Saturday)

Be part of the team of kitchen assistants who prepare and cook a nutritious lunch for our service users on a Wednesday and Saturday. You don’t need to be a Master Chef but you do need to be able to follow a recipe. Eating Together is communal eating sessions for our more isolated service users. It gives them a chance to come to together, socialise and eat a nutritious and delicious meal.

We hope for a commitment of one shift a month on either a Wednesday or a Saturday (or both!)

Eating Together Host - Wednesday and /or Saturday

Eating Together Hosts support the Lead Host to make sure that every Eating Together session runs smoothly and that everyone has fun. You will meet and greet service users, introduce people to each other, prepare hot drinks and make sure that no one looks lonely!

We hope for a commitment of one shift a month on either a Wednesday or a Saturday (or both!)

Eating Together Lead Host - Saturday only

The Lead Host on a Saturday makes sure everything runs smoothly. You'll liaise with the kitchen team and supervise two volunteer Hosts who'll you'll work in a team with. You’ll take charge of the volunteer and service user attendance sheet and answer any questions service may have about other services.

Eating Together Nutrition Assistant - Saturday only

Use your nutritional expertise at our Saturday Eating Together session! You'll deliver a talk on a particular topic and lead a discussion around it. You must be a qualified Dietician or Nutritionist to volunteer in this role.
