Summer time and The Food Chain is busy!
Summer time is upon us and once again it is a busy time for Food Chain supporters, volunteers, friends and staff with lots of activities to get involved in, whether going out and about collecting on our behalf, quizzing, climbing, running, joining in the annual Pride celebration, buying tickets for the fantastic Balans raffle, or dining with us in the Acorn House kitchen.
There’s something for everyone and It’salways good to see those green Food Chain t-shirts out and about spreading awareness of our work.
We will be hosting our 3rd annual summer supper in the kitchen at Acorn House on June 22nd, and this year we are teaming up with our friends at Foodcycle to create a mystery menu, partly from ingredients they have sourced from some of their generous suppliers. One of the best things about the event this year is that Peter will be joined in the kitchen by chef Chabahn Stricher, whose Food Chain story is inspiring. Read all about Chabahn here Chabahn's story
We will be joined by Jay Rayner for the evening, and there’s also a chance to bid for an auction prize to accompany Jay for dinner as he writes a restaurant review for The Observer. The auction will go live on ebay on June 12th and you will be able to bid right up until the evening of the dinner.

I was staying with friends over the May bank holiday and they let me loose in their kitchen to cook up a Food Chain recipe. It was a bit of a grey, rainy day and so the Pork, Cabbage and bean cassoulet went down a treat. I’m pleased to say they liked it so much they bought a copy of 'Nourish' and have been trying out recipes ever since!
