Harvest at the Admiral!
Our friends at the Admiral Duncan bar in Soho held their second Harvest Festival fundraiser on Thursday 16 October, to raise funds and inspire food donations for The Food Chain.
We are absolutely delighted with the evening’s fundraising total, which currently stands at £436! Last year, the Admiral Duncan team and our volunteers collected £16 shy of that amount. We thought it would take some effort to surpass last year’s endeavour, but the hard work and generosity of many people ensured the 2nd Harvest Festival was more profitable than the first.
This was the ideal way to kick off what will soon be our busiest period of the year in fundraising, with our autumn drinks reception just around the corner (6 Nov, tickets available here) and World AIDS Day (1 December) events also on the horizon.
We’d first like to thank all who attended the Admiral Duncan’s Harvest Festival and donated food, the combined value of which, we are pleased to reveal, is approximately £200. These food items are mostly dried-goods, which will be used for many weeks to come on Tuesdays at Eating Positively (cookery and nutrition classes) and on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Eating Together (communal eating).
We would like to express our gratitude to Oliver and his team at the Admiral Duncan for their hard work, our super volunteers for their raffle-ticket selling, bucket-shaking and auction spotting, and to all the acts who entertained and helped to make the evening such good fun. Bette Rinse, our MC on the night, provided much fun and frivolity - so our thanks go to Bette too!
With so many acts keeping the masses entertained on the evening, we were only able to draw the remaining raffle tickets on Friday morning! Under the watchful eye of Food Chain staff members and volunteers, tickets 743, 773 and 807 were drawn. If you had one of these lucky tickets, please contact email@example.com or call 02078431805 to claim your prize.
