Julian Clary wins £25,000 for The Food Chain!
Saturday night television made for very exciting viewing at the weekend, as we watched our Patron, Julian Clary, on the celebrity version of popular ITV quiz show, The Chase.
Julian and three other celebrities faced one of the show’s formidable ‘Chasers’ in a bid to raise funds for their selected charities. Our Patron stole the show, outwitting and outclassing the Chaser, en route to the celebrities’ triumph in the ‘final chase’. This successful battle against the clock resulted in a magnificent £25,000 being awarded to The Food Chain – thanks to Julian – and to three other worthwhile causes.
The show was aired on ITV at 7pm on Saturday 20 September; prime-time television viewing for much of the country. At the end of the show, host Bradley Walsh invited Julian to talk about our services to the millions watching at home, which of course he did with great aplomb. This was fantastic exposure for us, and our sincere thanks go to Julian and all at The Chase for their support.
Julian is an active Patron of The Food Chain. In recent years, he has spoken at one of our major black tie fundraisers, and kindly invited our volunteers to collect donations at his hilarious stand-up comedy shows.
The money Julian worked so hard to win for us will be spent on sustaining our nutrition services for people living with HIV in London. Don’t worry if you missed the show; it’s still available to view until Tuesday 21 October using online catch-up service ITV Player. We’re (only a little bit) sorry to have spoilt the outcome for you!
