St Paul's Cake Sale - 11 May

With sunshine aplenty at the start of March, we can’t be blamed for looking forward to our spring and summer fundraisers. It’s 11 May that has us particularly excited, as we prepare to revisit one of our favourite venues for a good old-fashioned cake sale!

Be part of a super volunteer team of bakers and stall helpers this May and help us raise funds at the Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden (WC2E 9ED).

The May Fayre starts with a colourful procession from 11am, but for The Food Chain the day will begin from 10am. We will be setting up our cake stall, before selling an array of treats to the fayre-goers in exchange for donations.

To keep us on our toes, this year we will also be serving tea, coffee and soft drinks.

If the weather is good, The Food Chain will have a presence on the day from 10am right up until 5pm. All the slots on our volunteer rota for the day are now full, but you can still bake a cake for us!

Over 20 volunteers spent a sunny Sunday baking and selling at this event in 2013, and managed to inspire donations which amounted to an amazing £668. We will require another super volunteer effort again this spring in order to surpass last year’s figure.

Find out how you can contribute to one of our favourite annual fundraisers by calling the office, or by emailing fundraising@foodchain.org.uk. We’ll keep you in the loop with our plans thereafter, including the arrangements for bringing your cakes to the church gardens - so you’ll be all set for 11 May.

For those of you who are interested, here are a few things to consider in the meantime:

  • Please don’t leave The Food Chain with any cake tins you want back.
  • Tell us your t-shirt size and we’ll make sure there is one for you to wear on the day.
  • Please make sure you provide us with an ingredients list for your baked treat so we (and the public) are aware of any potential allergy risks.
  • If you would like to volunteer and can bring any equipment with you which is likely to be of use (such as knives, cupcake holders or platters), then do let us know.
