Clifford McManus, Community & Events Fundraiser

What does your job involve day-to-day? Planning and organising fundraising events for the food chain. Thinking of new ways of fundraising and getting donations for raffle prizes. Working with the kitchen and volunteer coordinator to ensure the events run as smoothly as possible.

How long have you been working at The Food Chain? I began working for the Food Chain 10th April 2017.

What did you do before The Food Chain? I was a volunteer with the UK Aids Quilt Partnership, I was also a trustee at George House Trust in Manchester.

What is the most memorable volunteer shift you've done for The Food Chain? Good or Bad! In my first week at The Food Chain I volunteered over the Easter weekend fundraising with the drag queens at Halfway to Heaven and the Duke of Wellington in Soho - That was fun.

What's the best meal you've ever had? Who were you with? Pan fried Turbot with samphire on Christmas Eve, it’s become a bit of a tradition with my flatmate, Michael, and I. 

If you're not in a Food Chain kitchen what's your favourite way to spend a Saturday? A long walk along the South Bank of the Thames on a sunny day, or preparing a meal for friends at home.

Favourite film and why? Anything by Mike Leigh – I loved secrets and lies for its honesty.
