Mackerel Pâté

250gms of fresh smoked mackerel fillets or canned mackerel
100gms low fat cream cheese (e.g. Philadelphia light)
juice of half a lemon
freshly ground black pepper
handful of chives, chopped
wholemeal bread toasted


Remove the skin from the smoked mackerel and remove any small bones.

Place the fish in a bowl and use a fork to mash it up.

Using a spoon, mix in the cream cheese, lemon juice, black pepper and chopped chives.

Serve on wholemeal toast.

Serving suggestions

This recipe will keep refrigerated for 2-3 days.
It is not suitable for freezing

This pâté also makes a great filling for sandwiches, bagels and jacket potatoes
