Mackerel Pâté

Ingredients

  • 250 g of fresh smoked mackerel fillets or canned mackerel
  • 100 g low fat cream cheese e.g. Philadelphia light
  • juice of half a lemon
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • handful of chives chopped
  • wholemeal bread toasted

Instructions

  • Remove the skin from the smoked mackerel and remove any small bones.
  • Place the fish in a bowl and use a fork to mash it up.
  • Using a spoon, mix in the cream cheese, lemon juice, black pepper and chopped chives.
  • Serve on wholemeal toast.

Storage
This recipe will keep refrigerated for 2-3 days.
It is not suitable for freezing
Uses
This pâté also makes a great filling for sandwiches, bagels and jacket potatoes
