Alastair Duncan

Clinical Academic Dietitian, Consultant at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London

Biography

Al (RD PhD FHEA CF) is a Clinical Academic Dietitian, working as a Consultant at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, and as a Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London. His first degree in Microbiology led onto researching HIV malabsorption, highly prevalent before the advent of combination antiretroviral therapy.

Al has specialised in HIV Dietetics since 1998. He has volunteered with The Food Chain for over 30 years, and was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2000-2003. Al’s research interests include the metabolic impact of both HIV and antiretroviral therapy. He is Principal Investigator on a major NIHR-funded study exploring digital interventions for health improvement, and supports others to develop their research skills and experience.
