It’s a Christmas Cracker

The Food Chain > CEO Diary > It’s a Christmas Cracker

December is just a few weeks away and as you can see from the feature below, we are getting ready at The Food Chain!

Christmas has always been an important time for us. Not only does the 25th December mark our 32nd year anniversary, it is also the time of year when some of our service users feel at their most isolated and alone. It feels more important than ever that we provide services over Christmas in 2020. It has been such a difficult time for everyone and we want to do all we can to ease anxiety and help people feel connected to others in a year that has been all about being distanced from each other.

We all accept that things will not be as they usually are but we have created a veritable smörgåsbord of ways in which we will connect with people this Christmas Day. Whatever Covid restrictions will be in place, we will reach all our service users with some form of support during the festive season.

It cannot be said too often how this is only made possible by the hard work and commitment of all our staff and fantastic volunteers. Our work has never had more impact than during this year, when we have seen truly wonderful contributions from everyone involved with The Food Chain, all year long.

The creativity, adaptability and sheer hard work of so many people has already helped us provide support for 468 people and their families since the Covid19 crisis began, and that number continues to rise.

In a more typical year we would support around 350 families so you can see the huge difference the pandemic has made.

We can all feel grateful and take heart from the fact that we have been able to respond to this need and make an important difference to the lives of many people at this incredibly difficult time.

I think there is no better way of marking our achievements than with a Food Chain Christmas that is as festive as we can possibly make it.

It’s going to be a Christmas Cracker!
