Donate Food

The Food Chain > Get Involved > Donate Food

Reducing our food costs is an important way to make donations go further.

Food costs are considerable at The Food Chain, as you might have guessed! We are always looking for donations of dried food and kitchen cupboard goods to help make donations go further. We only accept food that is unopened and still has at least two months remaining on best before date.

Please email kitchen@foodchain.org.uk if you have items you would like to donate to arrange dropping them at our kitchen.

Items to Donate

In particular we use a lot of the following items and would like to source:

  • oil (olive, rapeseed and sunflower)
  • balsamic vinegar
  • basmati rice
  • all types of flour
  • all types of sugar
  • quinoa
  • tofu (long-life)
  • dried fruit (not mixed)
  • all kinds of nuts
  • stock cubes (vegetable or chicken)
  • tinned tomatoes
  • tinned chickpeas
  • tinned beans (no baked beans)
  • canned oily fish (no tuna)
  • coconut milk
  • creamed coconut
  • honey
  • peanut butter
  • olives
  • preserved red peppers
  • spices and dried herbs
  • tubes of tomato purée

Occasionally we are also able to use donations of fresh food – please email kitchen@foodchain.org.uk to find out more.
